Freeman Ball Developments – Winner – 2019 TIDA New Zealand Designer New Home of the Year
Key to the brief for this home was that it was to use permananent and pre-formed materials, combined with large glass windows to flood the house with natural light.
The resulting home is tucked into the base of the hill at the back of the site, allowing for a vast amount living and entertaining areas in the front.
Prominent use of commercial-type claddding and board-formed concrete internal walls gives the home a strong, industrial feel, which is then softened by the use of rich timber batten ceilings throughout.
The judges commented on the way the house takes maximum advantage its valley site and microclimate, creating a very warm, protected living environment with wonderful outdoor areas and beautiful views.
Congratulations to Freeman Ball Developments – winner of the 2019 TIDA New Zealand Designer New Home.
